Connecting readers and writers in the West Midlands
West Midlands Readers’ Network supports reading and reading activity by creating opportunities for readers and readers’ groups to engage creatively with literature, and to deepen their reading experiences.
We run a range of events and activities including commissions, creative reading events, a ‘readers in residence’ programme, plus networking and skill-sharing across the West Midlands.
• We help reading groups to commission new writing from regional writers.
• We can work with libraries to develop and deliver skill-sharing sessions for their staff.
• We target marginalised groups including readers in rural areas, those with health needs (including mental health needs) and the young and help to broker events featuring regional writers.
• We work with regional literary festivals including the Birmingham Literature Festival to bring exciting reading events to the public.
